20:13 – Chief 18-30 arrived on scene confirming smoke showing from a second-floor window, establishing command.

20:14 – Engine 18-33 arrived and was ordered to stretch a handline through the front door to the second floor. Crews quickly located the fire in an upstairs bedroom.

Interior crews made an aggressive attack and reported fire knocked and extinguished, with overhaul in progress. During overhaul, firefighters open walls and ceilings to ensure no hidden fire remains. Thankfully, no extension was found beyond the room of origin.

Mays Landing Fire Department Tanker 18-19 supplied Engine 18-33 with water as a precaution in case additional suppression was needed.

Ladder 18-15 was assigned to the B-side of the structure. Crews placed ground ladders to the second floor, which serve as secondary emergency exits (egress points) for firefighters operating inside. These ladders provide a quick escape route if interior conditions rapidly deteriorate.

The structure was ventilated to remove heat, smoke, and toxic gases, improving conditions for both firefighters and any potential occupants.

Crews then conducted a final check using a thermal imaging camera (TIC). A TIC is a specialized device that detects heat signatures, allowing firefighters to see through smoke and identify hidden hot spots inside walls, ceilings, or floors. This ensures the fire is fully extinguished and reduces the chance of rekindle.

Tanker 18-38 stood by in station and Cologne Volunteer Fire Company Engine 18-54 stood by on scene to ensure coverage in the event of another call for service during the incident.

Township Of Hamilton Rescue Squad responded and stood by on scene. Township of Hamilton Police Department assisted with traffic control.

Once all equipment was picked up and operations were complete, all units were released and command was terminated at 20:56.

Great work by all crews for a quick, coordinated response that kept this incident contained. 💪🚒
