First arriving crews confirmed smoke showing from the second floor, with no answer at the door. With assistance from Township of Hamilton Police Department, crews made entry into the residence.

Upon investigation, firefighters located a pot burning on the stove. The stove was shut off and the pot was safely removed. Crews then conducted ventilation operations to clear the smoke from the residence.

Once conditions improved, the alarm system was reset and all units were placed back in service.

πŸ”₯ Fire Safety Reminder πŸ”₯

Incidents like this are a strong reminder of how quickly everyday cooking can turn dangerous:

β€’ Never leave cooking unattended – even for a short time
β€’ Always double-check that your stove/oven is off before leaving your home
β€’ Keep flammable items away from stovetops

🧯 Have the right extinguisher:
For kitchen fires, it’s recommended to have a Class ABC fire extinguisher in your home. These are effective for common household fires, including grease and electrical fires.

⚠️ Important: Never use water on a grease fire β€” it can cause the fire to spread rapidly. If safe to do so, turn off the heat source and use a lid or extinguisher to control the fire.
